Paris Wrap-up

Sorry friends. I've been busy. But I figured I better wrap-up Paris before our Rome trip next week. We spent the morning of day 3 at the Orsay Museum. The Orsay is much less overwhelming than the Louvre - and I mean that in a good way. I think we enjoyed it more because it's not quite as large and over-crowded and is a little less diverse so it's easier to appreciate what you see - lots of Monet and Renoir, van Gogh, etc.

After the Orsay we headed to Napoleon's Tomb to pay our respects and, since the price of admission also included entrance to the Army Museum, we made our way through it. It was here that we bumped into a couple of my GT co-workers who recently began a 2 year assignment in London. They too, were spending Thanksgiving weekend in Paris and we were all equally blown away to be seeing someone we knew in the most unlikely of places! I mean, what are the odds?

We visited Sacre Coeur which is beautiful and allowed us to see a part of Paris very different from where we had been thus far. We were quite intrigued by the impromptu live concert on the steps just outside the church. Hundreds were gathered to listen to a little of everything from John Lennon to the 4 Non-Blondes...priceless.

We were a little cold and tired and decided we needed a break before trying to rally for an evening out. We had a little siesta and then pursued our chicken and cheese crepe dinner with renewed fervor. The walk to the Latin Quarter was a little long and we committed the fatal flaw of stopping at a different crepe stand because it was closer and actually had some seating. It was good - but not the deliciousness we had seen and envied the night before. We walked on and tried to soak up our last bit of Paris nightlife while we still could.

We had a few hours before our train Sunday morning so we wandered the city some more and people-watched local families with their kids and remote control sail boats in Tuileries Garden. We stopped at the crepe stand for lunch - and yes, it was as mouthwatering and wonderful as we had imagined - hands down the best meal we ate in Paris.
